Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to everyone! ^_^

Unfortunately I simply don't have time this year to finish my picture
I started it but there are so many things happening that I'm happy if we can relax a bit during Xmas day and New Year's Day.

Good luck everyone! Keep up the awesome work! ^_^

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Ahhh, and life continues to be packed and busy.

BUT! I pretty much finished the drawing of Grenth! Time to work on the next one.
Critique, warm fuzzies, and comments welcome. I can finalize things about it based on input ^^

Oh, and if you're wondering... The thing in his hand is Dwayna's head-circlet thingymahwut. I added in a little blood for symbology, but I didnt go overboard at all. The coloration on the bottom portion and lower torso (the red bids), ended that way after color adjustment. Its just dramatic, its not blood covered clothes... So please dont panic or get grumpy about that XD

I thought it was a nice color contrast to the whites, blues, and greens above :]

Enjoy!

... PS - when I'm done with an art piece how do I officially submit it? XD

Exclamation Wintersday Workshop PARTY details

Hello everybody interested in the Wintersday Workshop Party, the information for the party is FINAL.

Wintersday Workshop Party

Date: Sunday 15th of Januari
Time: 18:00h GMT - 23:59h GMT (6pm gmt - 11:59pm gmt)
announcements of Workshop Winners starts around 19:00h gmt
Location: The Frost Gate (mission outpost), International District 1

As far as activities and refreshments go you need not to worry, this is not a 'bring your own booze' party. There will be 'on air' music and trivia provided by gw-en.com radio. We have confirmation that Elfs and Snowmen will come to our party to supply everybody with drinks & entertainment (amoungst which an 'in district' wintersday trivia), and even Santa has promised to pay us a visit ^^ ... but be alarmed! ... The chance that Grentchies will show up and try to ruin our party is pretty much a given! We managed to capture a couple during wintersday and 'extracted' this information ... We can assure you though that no charr plushies were hurt during the interrogation process, we merely used their cuddliness to break the Grentchies ... So if you see any Grentch appear in district grab them and hold them upside down and give them a good shake, anything they 'stole' belongs to the honest person that 'found' it thus be adviced not to show up in a grentchie disguise, or you may have a lot of explaining to do!

As far as give away prizes go, I seem to have most of it sorted out, what i could do with is a bunch of ecto's (20 +/-) to drop over some of the activities (though any donations are welcome as 'we' can fit them in somewhere). To give everybody an idea of what can be won during this party:

** Side note **: If during the party it turns out the interest is so large that a 2nd district opens, we will try and do what is needed to supply both districts with activities based upon how crowded it gets. Prizes won in the 'on air' trivia will either be delivered to D2 or can be claimed after the party, the announcements of the workshop winners will also be repeated 'on air', so if you get stuck in D2 you wont have to miss much ... and in the odd occation that a 3rd district opens, we will try and do the same, we will spread thin but we rely on your understanding to make the event as enjoyable as possible for all that wish to attend.

As long as it's in your progress gallery, you're fine! Nothing else to do

Hmm... I decided to do some insanely quick sketches of my ideas. What I wanted to do was a very 'simple' drawing of Nicholas the Traveler giving gifts to children in Tyria. I would like an opinion on Nicholas' clothes.

I wanted them similar to Katy Hargrove's Nicholas with Yakkington. Nevertheless, it looks as if he is wearing an unusual looking poncho . I'm thinking I might do it in pencil instead of digital, because I'm too lazy to pick up my pen tablet

Here is where I have stopped:

@KiyaKoreena: Masking tape, plastic bags, and stuffing! That looks very nice. I would have never thought of using such simple material. It looks awesome so far!

@Sura: I would have loved to see what you could have done with your original. However, both of the new ideas look lovely. The children versions of gwen and thackery are too cute <3!

@Iceblue: Nice use of watercolor pencils! I love the polar bears, the boy bear draws a lot of attention to the piece. It reminds me of a "Wish You Were Here" postcard. Awesome job!

@Valdis the Unmaker: Winter must end, I don't much like the cold . Nice job I like details in his armor, specifically around the arm area. I do think his arms are a bit too large, but at the same time it strengthens the piece. It causes Grenth to look as if he is gradually reaching out at the viewer. Poor Dwayna...I like Lyssa anyway

Have a wonderful and safe holiday season everyone!

Test quaggan is sewn. There are a few alterations to the pattern I need to make for the eventual final one but overall it seems ok. I dont think I have time to make a second proper one before the due date so this little guy will have to be my entry. Time to dress him up!

Good work everyone, it is lovely to come back to so much art awesomeness

Sura, Kid Gwen is lovely. I don’t know what you think is wrong with the Sylvari’s anatomy.

Iceblue, That’s so sweet

Minami, so sad about the entry but I hope you have a nice relaxed time.

Valdis, Having Dwayna’a crown is very nice, very understated. I love the concept but I didn’t get it when I looked at the pic, is there any way of making it more distinct? I know you like the gore but perhaps less blood would be more coherent? I love the armour, particularly the skulls.

As long as it is on your progress Gallery and clearly the final piece it will be fine – but that is where the judges will be looking. It is helpful if the progress pieces are there too.

Arghore, I will have to be semi afk for the earlier part of the party but otherwise day and time is Ok for me

Black, ummm I am too lazy to look up the Katy Hargrove pic – need a link – he looks a bit like a Cornish fisherman, which is OK. But I would say make the top less of a smock. I suppose it is just the start, where’s Yakkington? Are the rest of the toys in his bags?

Kiya, that Quaggan is a Marsh level of cuteness.

OMG Morag , it is like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, is there no-one left? Who was it said…..
‘lol Aero.
It is true though that Skyrim causes nerd-shaped black holes where people used to be...’?

Muzai, I love the concept and Gwen’s face is priceless, her boobs are huge though.

I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing. Especially from Sura, and BlackXI

That being said I've added in the details for my Charr. Only a small bit to finish this step, then on to the next phase.

Well figured I should add an update since I have a reprieve from the craziness for a day.

I've been toying with background ideas, have done about 8 different test ones then trashed all the ones I really did not want to pursue further. Narrowed it down to 3 last night and decided to sleep on it.

#1 - basic winter with some tree outlines

#2 - mountain pass, couldn't decide where jingle kitty would go

#3 - wintery field, seemed like a more natural setting for a Jingle Kitty (I also really love the way the sky came out).

I really like the way #3 is looking, and after some thought I'm pretty sure it's what I'm gonna run with. My shrubbery looks rather nice, I think

How to vote for "The People's Award!"

If you qualified to vote for "The People's Award" and would like to vote, please read this post carefully to make sure your vote gets counted

Qualifying to vote: You can vote for this award if you:
1) Made a post before the Mon Dec 26, 2011 noon PST deadline, or
2) Send me a PM about the workshop before the Mon Dec 26, 2011 noon PST deadline, or
3) Are on the donor's, special thank you, or judge's lists before the Mon Dec 26, 2011 noon PST deadline.

Voting opens: Mon, Jan 2, 2011 noon! I will not accept any judging sheets before then (i.e., delete from inbox without opening/reading).

Who gets the award: Ideally, nominate those you think helped encourage the Wintersday Workshop spirit. These are people who strove to improve their art, gave feedback, helped the workshop in some way, etc But, this is your award to give! So, if someone was really helpful to you or really impressed you in some way, go ahead and nominate that person!

Who can be nominated: Anyone who made a post, judged, or donated prizes before Mon, Jan 2, 2011 noon is eligible for this award (except me - don't vote for me, because I'll have to PM you that you need to choose someone else, and that's just extra work for me and delays your actual judging sheet )! Also, Since everyone can only win one award, the winners of the "Wintersday Artist Extraordinaire Award" and the "Best Progress Award" First place cannot win this award and the award will go to the runner up. Important: don't vote for yourself!

Submitting: Fill the nomination form *exactly* and send it to me in a PM titled "People's Award Vote!" I will only accept the first judging sheet you send me (to make it easier on me to keep a running tally), so please choose carefully I will let you know immediately if there are any problems with your sheet within 24 hours

Due: Jan 9th, noon PST. Get your sheets in early, because if your form is somehow incorrect and there isn't enough time for me to let you know and for you to get a new one in, your vote won't be counted.

How to make nominations:
• You *must* nominate four people (use forum name).
• You *must* allocate a total of 40 points between your four nominations (minimum of 1 point), depending on how strongly you feel about each nomination. For example, if you felt your nominations all deserve the award equally, you would assign 10 points for each. If you felt only 1 really deserved the nomination and the other 3 are just filler, you would assign 37 points to one and 1 point to the other 3. This increases the chance that we won't have ties. Otherwise, I recommend something like a 20-10-5-5 allocation.

How the award is given: The person with the most number of points wins the award!

Why you should vote:
• It's fun to vote for your favorite artists!
• You get entered into the "Mysterious Raffle!"
• You automatically get 10 points towards the award!

How to know if your form is accepted:
I won't be sending you a reply if your form is accepted. Instead, I will add your name to the raffle list in this post If there is something wrong with your form, I will PM you. If you don't see your name on the raffle list AND I haven't responded there is something wrong AND I have made an edit since you send the PM AND it's been 24 hours, then you may send me another PM. *Do not repeatedly send me PMs, because there is an inbox limit, and I am expecting many, many PMs*

Additional notes:
• If you have general questions, ask directly in the thread - I want to limit the PMs I get to only judging sheets.
• There is always a possibility that my inbox gets full and you'll get an error. This will be most likely to happen around midnight - 9am PST since I won't be cleaning my inbox while I sleep XD Don't wait until last minute, because if I don't get your judging sheet by the deadline because of this, your vote won't be counted.
• Ties will be broken by whoever got the score first (i.e., vote early for your favorites!)
• You may not change your votes or answers to the prize questions, so choose carefully since I will only take your first vote.
• If you want to add comments on why you voted for an artist and have your comments potentially appear in the first post when I announce the winner, feel free to do so and let me know if you want to remain anonymous.
• Use forum names! If a forum name doesn't match one of the ones I have, I will automatically send you a PM saying your form is incomplete and you might miss having your vote counted!
• I added a "Prizes Questionnaire" to help with prize distributions, before all the winners are selected. Please fill this out. Answers cannot be changed later on. If you fill this part out incorrectly, but you filled out "The People's Award" nomination part correctly, your vote will still be counted.
• The drawing for the "Mysterious Raffle" will take place during the Wintersday Workshop party after all the other awards are given out and will only be awarded to someone who has not already won an award.
